(Jackson, MS – March 26, 2012) - Yellow Scarf, a Cassandra Wilson concept, is a new venue
owned and operated by Ojah Media Group in Jackson, MS. Conceived as a listening room,
Yellow Scarf is a space rendered to create a uniquely pleasurable environment where audiences
experience music and the rejuvenation that comes wherever real musicians make real music in
real time.
Yellow Scarf opened its doors in March and began with a performance series entitled “Honoring
the Masters.” The series highlights musicians who have established themselves as leaders and
mentors in the music community. Andy Hardwick, was the first honoree. He performed a 90-
minute set for a packed house on March 16th. Yellow Scarf’s series programming is curated by
Cassandra Wilson and Ojah Media Group and will include local, national and international acts.
On Friday, April 6th and Saturday April 7th, Yellow Scarf will hold its Premiere Weekend
festivities, entitled “Wine, Women, and Wisdom”. Cassandra Wilson and Band will be
headlining the weekend of performances on Saturday, April 7. Rhonda Richmond and Tawanna
Shaunte, will open the weekend on Friday night with two magical performances of blues, jazz
and sultry soul.
In addition to music performances during the Premiere Weekend, Yellow Scarf will present its
first photographic exhibit titled “Big Easy Kitchen” by Mississippi native, Thabi Moyo.
Yellow Scarf is located at 741 Harris Street, Suite E in Jackson, MS and is a performance and
private event space that can be rented for photography & video, corporate meetings, rehearsals,
